Who We Are
Our Evolution
Founded originally in 2013 as the PDGIA, our organization has evolved to meet the changing needs of our sector. In response to an increasingly complex regulatory environment and the need for stronger collective advocacy, we formalized our structure and adopted our new identity as IDGI-BC. The society was legally formed on March 26, 2025, marking a significant milestone in our development. This transformation reflects our commitment to emphasizing the independent nature of our institutions rather than focusing on their private status, acknowledging that independence fosters innovation, flexibility, and responsiveness to student and community needs.
Our Mission
IDGI-BC represents the interests of independent post-secondary degree-granting colleges, universities, and institutes throughout British Columbia. We raise public awareness and promote recognition of the significant contributions our members make to post-secondary education and their vital role in our economy. Our members adhere to a code of ethics and are committed to providing education of the highest quality while ensuring compliance with all government regulations.
